Common Questions for FSA/HSA Users

Do I need a doctor's prescription (LMN)?
Generally, no. Because Aetey is an FDA-cleared Class II medical device indicated for treating acne and wrinkles, most administrators approve it automatically. However, some specific plans may require a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN). We recommend checking with your plan administrator.
Why was my FSA/HSA card declined?
Declines are usually due to bank security flags, not eligibility issues. If this happens, simply use a personal credit card to complete the purchase, and then submit your receipt for reimbursement. You can also call the number on the back of your card to authorize the transaction.
Are all Aetey devices eligible?
Yes. All our light therapy devices (Facial Systems and Body Panels) are FDA-cleared Class II medical devices, making them 100% eligible expenses under IRS Publication 502 for medical care.
What is the "Use It or Lose It" rule?
For FSA funds, the "Use It or Lose It" rule typically means funds expire at the end of the calendar year (December 31st). If you don't spend them, they may be forfeited. HSA funds, however, generally roll over indefinitely. Aetey devices are a perfect way to invest expiring FSA dollars.
How do I get an itemized receipt for reimbursement?
After your purchase, you will receive an order confirmation email. Inside that email is a link to download your official PDF invoice. This document includes all necessary details (Product Name, Date, Price, Vendor) required for reimbursement claims.
Can I split payment between two cards?
Our checkout only accepts one credit card per transaction. However, if your FSA balance is low, you can purchase an Aetey Gift Card with your FSA funds first, and then use that gift card code plus your personal credit card to pay for the device.
Is shipping cost also eligible for reimbursement?
Yes, shipping fees associated with the delivery of medical devices are generally considered an eligible medical expense by the IRS and can be included in your reimbursement claim.
Can I buy a device for my spouse or child?
Yes, you can use your FSA/HSA funds to pay for medical expenses for your spouse and any claimed dependents (like children), even if they are not covered by your health insurance plan.
Are product bundles eligible?
Yes, as long as the bundle consists of eligible medical devices. Our "System Bundles" are fully eligible. Non-medical accessories (like travel bags sold separately) may not be eligible on their own.
What happens if I return the device?
If you used an FSA/HSA card directly, the refund will go back to that card. If you paid personally and were already reimbursed, you may need to contact your plan administrator to return the funds to your account to avoid tax penalties.
Does this apply to HRA (Health Reimbursement Arrangements)?
In most cases, yes. HRAs generally cover the same IRS-qualified medical expenses as FSAs and HSAs. However, HRAs are employer-funded and rules can vary by company, so please check your specific plan documents.
When is the deadline to spend my FSA funds?
For most plans, the deadline is December 31st. Some plans offer a "grace period" up to March 15th of the following year, or allow a small amount (e.g., $610) to carry over. Check with your employer to confirm your specific deadline.
